BSAD report: At the time, Bolton were in one of their “riding high in Division 1” seasons, as opposed to a relegation dogfight in the Premier League. Typically for those years, we were skulking around near the bottom of the table, ultimately securing survival only in late-April, on the back of the Mooney/Bailey/Foster/Millen signings, which suddenly transformed the season.

Our second visit to the New Den in five days and the second time we’d conceded four goals. This was only the fifth time ever we’d been reduced to nine men but also the second time in two months.
