5th December 2020- Championship, Watford 0 Cardiff City 1

For the first time since the pandemic began a limited number of home fans were allowed to attend the game. The attendance was 1,973.

BBC Sport: Kieffer Moore’s fifth goal in five games ended Watford’s unbeaten home run as fans returned to Vicarage Road.

Official site: So, the team win six out of seven without the fans, scoring 16 goals in the process and yet the second the supporters are gradually and welcomely phased back in, the Golden Boys finish a home game pointless and goalless. You couldn’t make it up, really. It’s just been that sort of year, hasn’t it?

BHappy: With the benefit of hindsight there’s an inevitability about a miserable 1-0 defeat on the day on which supporters are first let back in.

Watford FC Official SiteHighlights | Watford 2-0 Norwich

BBC SportTroy Deeney and Odion Ighalo both scored as Watford earned a deserved win over struggling Norwich.

skyDeeney stepped up to finish past Declan Rudd after Alexander Tettey had fouled Ighalo in the area.  And Ighalo netted his ninth goal of the season in second-half stoppage time after combining well with Deeney.

guardian“I love my strikers and I love the team we have,” their manager said after seeing his side move up to ninth. “We have passion, we have ambition and we have soul. I have an amazing feeling with these players and they are loving the Premier League.

BHappy imageHaving arrived in the Premier League as a team playing reasonably open football on a sensible budget with a fashionable young manager, Norwich have every right to feel a bit peeved that everyone’s fawning over Bournemouth. It’s like they’ve turned up at a fancy dress party as Olaf from Frozen, only to find that someone else had that idea first and had a mum with a fancy sewing machine; they’re now in the bathroom desperately attempting to improvise an abominable snowman costume instead.

The Hornets NestI’ll leave you with this.  Six years ago we were hours way from administration. Now after the first weekend in December we sit in the top half of the Premier League.

BSAD imageBSAD report:You know what I really hate? Juggling. Bloody rubbish.  Just thought I’d mention it, like. The match? Well, it’s like soap operas, innit. For every Grant versus Tiffany blitzkrieg on Eastenders, there’s an episode of Dot and Ethel, petty squabbling, weak gags and general time-wasting. Watford fans have been able to gorge themselves on entertainment thus far and the first goalless draw, with Dot and Ethel in midfield, was long overdue.
