31st July 2015- Friendly, Watford 0 Sevilla 1

BHappy imageThe cost of parking at the grammar school has gone up to £8.  Welcome to the Premier League, boys and girls.  Not the only change this… the season’s first rogue vendor is spotted on Vicarage Road selling split Watford / Sevilla scarves (where does his excess stock go, you have to ask yourself) whilst evidence of the ongoing work at the stadium itself is immediately evident, construction vehicles standing guard on the open corner between the Vicarage Road and Elton John stands.

Goal.com: A worrying head injury sustained by Ciro Immobile overshadowed Sevilla’s 1-0 friendly win at Watford on Friday.

Mail Online: Sevilla won an early free-kick, knocked into the box by Denis Suarez, but Immobile was involved in a sickening clash with Watford keeper Heurelho Gomes, which saw him needing urgent treatment.

31st July 2010-Friendly, Watford 0 Charlton Athletic 1

Watford signed off their pre-season campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Charlton Athletic at Vicarage Road this afternoon. An early goal from Danny Graham, with his fourth of the summer making him the top scorer of the warm-up matches, was to prove enough as the Hornets encouragingly completed back-to-back wins with successive clean sheets.

31st July 2006- Friendly, AC Horsens 0 Watford 4

WATFORD racked up their fourth consecutive pre-season win – and kept their first clean sheet – with a 4-0 victory over AC Horsens at the start of their training camp in Denmark on Monday, July 31.

31st July 2001- Friendly, Inter Milan 2 Watford 1

guardian Two years ago it was the Isle of Man, last summer an army boot camp and games against Newquay and Torpoint. These days, however, Watford’s players are sharing the bill with the likes of Christian Vieri and Javier Zanetti, and are worried about being referred to by their new manager as “the Manchester United of the First Division”.

TelegraphAS Gianluca Vialli addressed his Watford squad last week, a reverential quiet descended on the group. The Nationwide Division One side had just played the first of two pre-season games against Italian opposition and some were clearly coming down from the experience. Thirty-six hours earlier, they had been up against the superstars from Inter Milan.

Watford ObserverIN what briefly threatened to be more of an event than a truly serious football match, Watford did well to hold Inter Milan to a 2-1 victory in Lecco during a humid evening on Tuesday, July 31.
