Watford’s Christian Kabasele cleared for Belgium World Cup selection

BBC SportCarrick, who was given a guard of honour as he walked onto the pitch with his children before the game, helped set up Marcus Rashford’s decisive goal against Watford.

skyWatford should have levelled on the stroke of half-time through Richarlison, but the Brazilian headed too close to United goalkeeper Sergio Romero from point-blank range.

guardianJavi Gracia’s selection showed three changes to their previous game, as Heurelho Gomes, Gerard Deulofeu and Richarlison came in for Orestis Karnezis, Étienne Capoue and Troy Deeney. Despite the defeat his side finished 14th and the Spaniard indicated he will remain in place next season. “I think so,” Gracia said.

TelegraphWatford briefly threatened when Daryl Janmaat cut inside and plonked a fine cross on the head of Richarlison but Sergio Romero tipped the forward’s header round a post.

FranThe return of Gomes to the team meant that he would make his 100th Premier League appearance for the Hornets and would be wearing the captain’s armband as he did so.  There was also much joy among the travelling fans when it was confirmed that Chalobah would be on the bench after so long out due to injury.

The Hornets NestWatford put in a good display on the final day of the 2017/18 season, but were ultimately undone by a Rashford goal and the ‘Orns’ inability to score away from home.

13th May 2007- Premier League, Watford 1 Newcastle United 1

This was an emotional day for those in Watford’s goal. Ben Foster played the final game of his two season loan spell from Manchester United. He was substituted in the 90th minute for Alec Chamberlain who came on for the last game in a career that spanned 25 years and 678 appearances, over 250 of them for Watford. The one minute cameo made Alec the second oldest Premier League player ever at 42 years 327 days only beaten by Manchester City’s John Rudge who was 43 when he played for them in 1995. Alec continued to work at Vicarage Road as a goalkeeper coach until 2017. Ben Foster, of course, would return to Watford in 2018.

BSAD imageBSAD report: It is well known that the average fan hates Man Utd, primarily because everybody you meet seems to support them, despite their dumb look when you ask them to locate Manchester on the map or challenge them to name at least five of the current side.

100 greatest100 Greatest Watford Wins- No.32:Lightning never strikes twice, they say.Well, two days after thrashing Spurs, Watford beat another of the giants 5-1.  Manchester United had the perfect excuse for having an off-day. They were five days away from an FA Cup final against the league champions, Everton.  But take nothing away from the Hornets. They dismantled United every bit as impressively as they had Spurs.
