BBC SportCoventry salvaged a point at Watford courtesy of late goals from David Bell and Lukas Jutkiewicz.  Will Buckley headed the Hornets in front and Coventry old boy John Eustace fired in a second after the Sky Blues only partially cleared a corner.

skyCoventry City produced a dramatic comeback at Vicarage Road to snatch a 2-2 draw against Watford.  Malky Mackay’s Watford appeared set to follow up an opening game win over Norwich City with another three points after Will Buckley and John Eustace scored.

BHappy imageBoothroyd. Still can’t bring myself to like him. Didn’t boo him, but…. in accepting, revelling in the reception of the crowd at the end of the game, he should have stopped short of the fist-waving celebration. You were welcomed back Aidy, but we support Watford, not you. We weren’t going to share in your celebration. Perhaps old habits die hard.

BBC SportWatford will meet Leeds in the Championship play-off final after cruising past a lacklustre Palace.

guardianAdrian Boothroyd faces the threat of being banned from the touchline for the play-off final against Leeds United, comfortably the biggest game of his brief managerial career, after being sent to the stands last night following a mass brawl in front of his dugout. The Watford manager sparked mayhem midway through the second half when he flicked the ball away from Fitz Hall with a hand as the Crystal Palace defender sought to take a quick throw-in.

BSAD imageBSAD reports: There is an air of something approaching hysteria inside Vicarage Road.

Immense. Amazing. Rock solid. Tense. Iron-willed. Undefeated.  Just some of the words we used, once we’d calmed down, to describe the fight on the touchline which was triggered by maybe a little too much management of the game and, in particular, the ball. But if we focus on that, we’ll be overlooking a job done with just as many of the qualities as we brought to the 60th-minute melee.

BSAD imageBSAD report: When you win, you’re fantastic. The manager is a tactical genius – he knows exactly what to do in every situation, bringing the best from his assortment of astute bargain buys and trusting ex-youth teamers. The players themselves are athletic, finely honed demi-gods, each heroic in the pursuit of the victory. The fans are united, re-affirming their identity and confirming their support from cradle to grave.

BSAD imageBSAD report: Let’s not forget that it was on the very same day (April 3rd) two years ago that we started our memorable unbeaten run which kept going for the remaining eight games of the season.

100 greatest100 Greatest Watford wins- No.6: For Mooney, this was the realisation of a childhood fantasy. ‘The last time I’d even been to Anfield was as a kid, wearing a Liverpool tracksuit, on the stadium tour,’ he says. ‘To go there wearing the number nine shirt was incredible. This was everything I’d wanted to do.’

BSAD imageBSAD report: Strange times in Hertfordshire. The local paper blares bizarre headlines concerning mutilated sheep carcasses from satanic rituals on Chipperfield Common. The scoreboard at Vicarage Road proudly displays advertising for “Dianetics” by L. Ron Hubbard. The programme promises that future pre-match entertainment will include exploding water buffalo. Only one of the above is a lie.
