19th October 2010- Championship, Watford 2 Ipswich Town 1 http://watford.fcdb.info/index.php?page=matches BBC: Two quick goals just before the break from Stephen McGinn and Marvin Sordell were enough to sink Ipswich as Watford moved up to third in the Championship. Evening Standard, 20 Oct 2010 BHappy: Agonising as the dropping off at the end of the game is, I can’t help but feel that rather than a deliberate strategy this sort of nervous response to a situation is simply what you’re going to get from a young team. Three of our starting midfield were 21 or under… much as our nerves were fraying badly, I’ll happily cope with that in return for the plusses twelve games in. Third place? Top scorers in the division? And perhaps two poor performances in the League (Leeds, Hull)? I’ll take that with both hands. https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2010-10-19 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/19-october-2010/ Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
5th April 2010- Championship, Watford 1 West Bromwich Albion 1 Leave a Reply http://watford.fcdb.info?id=4911 Chris Brunt scored a dramatic equaliser five minutes into injury time to rescue West Brom and break Watford hearts. The relegation-threatened hosts looked set to claim a vital win after Danny Graham’s superb long-range strike with only five minutes left to play. Malky Mackay’s team showed grit after losing their top scorer Tom Cleverley, who was taken off on a stretcher wearing an oxygen mask after being caught on the ankle by Jonas Olsson, then having Jon Harley sent off, to take the lead in the85th minute through Danny Graham’s 25-yard shot. It was a tense affair from the start with Watford fighting to remain in the Championship and Albion knowing that, by this evening they could be back in the Premier League. There was a point in the second half where the floodlights came on just as the sun came out. “What an odd day,” was the instinctive thought, which lead to the reflection that an odd day might be required in overturning our fifteen-year league hoodoo against the Albion. It didn’t quite happen, although the rueful “I’d take a draw from here” sentiment as Jon Harley departed was severely tested… https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2010-04-05 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/05-april-2010/ Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
7th November 2009-Championship, Watford 2 Preston North End 0 Leave a Reply report:From the first minute where Preston’s defence watched a cross float to the far post with the immobile, distracted air of kids at a firework display it was evident that fun could be had. http://watford.fcdb.info?s=36566&id=4885 Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
