23rd October 2010- Championship, Watford 0 Scunthorpe United 2 Leave a Reply Scunthorpe picked up a second league win of the week to cause an upset as Watford’s fine form came to an end. The script suggested a leisurely stroll for the hosts. Starting the campaign among the favourites for relegation has galvanised Watford without the burden of expectation. This one stank to high heaven… and there exists no more reliable an indicator of an awful performance than the home crowd, at 2-0 down, booing the display of four added minutes at the end of the game as being too long. http://watford.fcdb.info?s=33336&id=4931 Share this:TwitterFacebook
14th August 2004- Championship, Watford 0 Burnley 1 Leave a Reply http://watford.fcdb.info?id=4610 BSAD report: Interestingly, there’s something of a difference of opinion at Vicarage Road right now. Roles reversed, unusually. Here, the expectations of the management team appear to be rather higher than those of many in the stands…which means me, although I know that I’m not alone in thinking that the lack of depth within the squad will cause us to struggle over the course of a nine month campaign. Judging by the reaction to this defeat, however, there’s a different agenda in the dressing room…which is very welcome indeed, particularly for those who hate to hear excuses about under-performance. I might think that this is all about survival, but that’s not a word that’s passed Ray Lewington’s lips much in recent interviews. Share this:TwitterFacebook
13th March 2004- New Division One, Watford 0 Sheffield United 2 Leave a Reply Hell, does anyone really want to pick over these bones? Will it tell us anything new, anything that we don’t know already? If you’re still holding out hope for Tuesday, then I applaud your optimism…and you might take some heart from a moderately rousing finale, even if its stirring passion was mainly manifested in Heidar Helguson narrowly escaping another red card for a stupid elbow and Paul Devlin being pointlessly petulant with anyone who came near him, friend or foe. And Paul Mayo had a competent, quietly impressive home debut too. Otherwise, though, there ain’t much that you’d want to look at, good or bad. It just was, and oppressively so. Frankly, Tuesday can’t come slowly enough. Share this:TwitterFacebook
