Watford-1-0-Wycombe-BBC-SportDownload BHappy report: Well that was more eventful than expected. The summer I mean… not the game, obviously, we’ll get to that. But doesn’t that Middlesbrough win seem an awfully long time ago. Little suggestion then of the upheaval that was to follow (and which still continues, I don’t think we’ve anything like finished yet…); if the long-term ownership of the club was in question there was certainly no indication that August would see us under a new manager (why would we?) or with a whole shedload of new players (how could we?). Turbulent, unnerving and also (and let’s be absolutely clear about this) to the unquestionable benefit, ultimately, of the football club. But quite possibly leaving a few disassociated, with nothing familiar to hold on to. So thank heaven and earth for the First Round of the League Cup (sponsored by whoever). Even today, a balmy Saturday afternoon instead of a cool Tuesday night. It never disappoints, never fails to sap the start of season excitement from the marrow, grounds us, reminds us what it’s all about. Share this:TwitterFacebook
4th March 2006-Championship, Watford 2 Derby County 2 Leave a Reply Substitute Al Bangura grabbed a late goal to rescue a point for Watford. Kevin Lisbie gave Derby the lead against the run of play when he raced onto Adam Bolder’s pass and trickled a low shot into the far corner. Marlon King fired the Hornets level with a smart finish from 18 yards and later hit the post as the home side poured forward. But Giles Barnes slid in to put the Rams ahead before Bangura made it 2-2 with a fine shot deep in injury-time. 31st December 2005- Championship, Watford 1 Crystal Palace 2 Leave a Reply Andy Johnson’s penalty made it three straight wins for Palace and closed the gap on their play-off rivals. He’s right about one thing, is our Adrian. That penalty was a joke. The kind of thing that leaves a bitter, sour after-taste, that lingers after the result has stopped hurting. A very Crystal Palace way to lose a game. God forbid that we ever become like that, just means to an end. https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2005-12-31 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/31-december-2005/ Share this:TwitterFacebook

In an enjoyable difference from the usual pattern of these sort of games, we got an early lead and never looked back. Share this:TwitterFacebook
