BHappy image report: another chance for Odion Ighalo to show us what he could do. Word from Granada was that he was hugely popular despite not having the best goalscoring ratio, and it’s easy to see why on both counts.

29th September 2014- Oscar Garcia steps down as Watford head coach and is replaced by Billy McKinlay

BBC Sport: Oscar Garcia has stepped down as Watford head coach because of ill health just 27 days into his tenure and has been replaced by Billy McKinlay.

The Guardian: García’s future had become the subject of scrutiny after he was taken to hospital with chest pains on 14 September. It was reported two days later the 41-year-old was still in hospital and in need of more rest. Watford have now confirmed in a statement on their website that, although García’s health was no longer a cause for concern, he needed more time to rest and felt it was best for the club for if he resigned.

Sky Sports: Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, former Dundee United and Blackburn midfielder McKinlay said: “It’s mixed emotions as obviously I was sorry to see Oscar go considering he was the one who offered me the job and appointed me.

Watford Observer: McKinlay joined the Hornets as first team coach on Friday and Oscar has revealed he helped decide the Scot was the right man to replace him as head coach.

BHappy imageBeing live on the telly carries with it a few considerations. For one thing, it’s an awful lot easier to write about a midweek trip to Blackpool, for instance, internet streaming or otherwise. If nobody’s seen the game then it’s not difficult to add to their understanding of how it went down… and less likely that anyone’s going to pick me up on a sloppy detail. Consequence number two is that everyone’s performing a little bit, even now in the era of blanket coverage. This went for daughter number one and daughter number two, stopped by a Sky crew on Vicarage Road at 11.15 and eager to wave their yellow, red and black garlands around their heads for the cameras. It went for the referee as well, who was irritatingly assiduous about free kicks being taken in the right spot but missed a lot of rather more fundamental stuff, frustrating both sides into the process. The close attention of Bournemouth’s aggressive midfield wasn’t acknowledged, Ian Harte’s lethal, cynical hack on Forestieri should have been given a red card… all round, tiresome. His performance was at the forefront of the girls’ post-match account to their great-grandmother, delivered with the withering shakes of the head of seasoned veterans.

Watford earned only their second win in 16 Championship games with victory over play-off hopefuls Brighton.

Anya fired the Hornets into an early lead with an angled shot across Tomasz Kuszczak and Beppe Sannino’s side were assured of their first win of 2014 on the hour mark when Forestieri made the most of a poor backpass from Gordon Greer.

Watford’s effective pressing game was a feature of their performance and Giuseppe Sannino, the head coach, said: “I knew that Brighton before this game were the best team in terms of goals conceded away from home and if we score two goals it’s because the pressing was very good. But also the desire of my lads and the effort that we were able to put into the game – we worked our socks off today.”

Watford did what they could not do against Nottingham Forest in midweek and held on to a 2-0 lead at home to Brighton. Their manager, Giuseppe Sannino, said: “I’m happy for my team because we came from three games where we didn’t get what we deserved.”
