WATFORD FAN’S VIEW: Team spirit under Marco Silva has Hornets on the up, while Richarlison looking a steal at £11million

BBC SportRicharlison scored an injury-time equaliser as Watford came from two goals down to save a point at West Bromwich Albion.

skyRicharlison’s 94th-minute header earned Watford an unlikely point after coming back from two goals down against West Brom at The Hawthorns.

guardianWatford’s winning run on the road has come to an end, although you would never have guessed so by the wild celebrations among the travelling supporters at the final whistle. This felt more like a victory for Marco Silva’s resilient side, who recovered from being 2-0 down inside 21 minutes against notoriously difficult opponents to salvage a thoroughly deserved point courtesy of yet another last-gasp goal from Richarlison.

IndependentWest Brom were denied a first win in five Premier League matches after Richarlison’s header deep into added time salvaged a 2-2 draw for Watford at The Hawthorns.

BHappy imageLosing your voice.  That’s the one.  That’s when you know that it’s been a belter, that it’s been worthwhile.  Lots of components make up an away day on and off the pitch…  result, performance, excitement.  Journey, company, food.  Some of which might be more important to you and some less, but losing your voice, as a marker, trumps everything.

FranWhen the team news came through there was much discussion of the only change from the Swansea game as Deeney was chosen in place of the previous week’s goalscorer, Gray.  To me the change made sense as, against a Pulis team, Deeney’s strength would be more important than Gray’s pace.

FranThis week, the Watford family lost someone very special. Stephen Todd, known to his football friends as Toddy, was a lifelong Watford fan. He regularly travelled to away games and was a stalwart at club events. He was an enthusiastic member of the Norfolk Hornets and a regular contributor to various fanzines over the years, where his quirky sense of humour shone through. More than that, he was one of my closest friends, someone who always added laughter to a social occasion. Sadly, he has had a number of health issues over the past year, but has bravely soldiered on and travelled to see the tremendous game at Southampton before his final appearance at last week’s defeat to Manchester City. As the news of his passing reached the club, I was very moved to see a tweet from Troy on how much he would be missed. Similar sentiments were expressed on social media by Luther, Gibbsy, Nick Cox, Ross Wilson, Dave Messenger and Jon Marks. The kind words from the great and the good were echoed by many fellow fans and this outpouring of love has bought great comfort to his family and friends. I will miss him terribly.

BBC SportSergio Aguero scored a hat-trick as Manchester City moved top of the table and handed Watford their heaviest ever top-flight defeat.

skySergio Aguero scored his 10th hat-trick for Manchester City as they thrashed Watford 6-0 at Vicarage Road to go top of the Premier League.

guardianManchester City have blasted their way to the top of the Premier League and only an exceptional team will be able to challenge them. Watford, watched by Elton John and unbeaten before Pep Guardiola’s men rocked up here, fancied their chances but were blown away by a three-goal salvo before half-time.

IndependentSergio Aguero’s superb hat-trick was the centre-point of a blistering Manchester City performance at Vicarage Road as they swept to the top of the Premier League.

BHappy imageSo.  Fourth in the League.  Early days, yes, but still.  Fourth in the league.  Cool, huh?

FranFor the second week running there was a Watford related event on Friday night.  This time it was Tony Coton’s book launch at the Vic.

BBC SportWatford scored two spectacular goals as they deservedly won away at Southampton to move up to fourth in the Premier League table.

skyWatford ground out an industrial 2-0 win away at Southampton thanks to superb strikes from Abdoulaye Doucoure and substitute Daryl Janmaat to maintain coach Marco Silva’s unbeaten start to the season.

guardianLong-range strikes from Abdoulaye Doucouré and Daryl Janmaat ended Southampton’s unbeaten start to the season and lifted Watford into the top four. The goals secured a 2-0 victory for the upwardly mobile Hornets in a game where Saints’ struggles in front of goal continued.

IndependentLong-range strikes from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Daryl Janmaat ended Southampton’s unbeaten start and lifted Watford into the top four.

BHappy imageWe’ve won impressively and deservedly against intimidating opponents.  But we’ve not won like this.  It’s not that we merited the win; that’s beyond dispute but not unique.  It was the way we crushed Southampton between our jaws.  The way that, more than merely deserving to win the game we were much, much better than our opponents.  Play this game a hundred times, we win ninety nine times.  Away to Southampton, a side who it could be argued are a reasonable target for our ambition in some ways. The victory is absolute, awesome, magnificent and magnificently straightforward.

FranAfter the game each encounter with a fellow Horn started with “How good was that?”  Watford had completely dominated the game against a team that I would consider to be one of our main competitors.
