9th March 2013- Championship, Watford 1 Blackpool 2 http://watford.fcdb.info/index.php?page=matches WFC.Net goal commentary: 1 BBC: Blackpool scored two late goals at Watford to give Paul Ince his first win in five games since becoming the Tangerines’s manager on 18 February. Sunday Telegraph, 10 Mar 2013 BHappy: we have what amounts to an extraordinary injury crisis by any normal standards. I’ve heard comments along the lines of “we’ve been lucky to avoid injuries”, but the truth is that we’ve had a few players out throughout. The current list includes Almunia, Abdi, Chalobah, Eustace, Hoban, Hall, Neuton, Smith with Ekstrand and Cassetti not fit to start. That’s a more than decent defence/midfield, arguably stronger than what we fielded yesterday. We have key players looking tired and out of form – worth bearing in mind the next time that Zola opts to rotate his squad. We had a number of key refereeing decisions go against us, a couple of them quite perversely so as discussed. And yet we were still unlucky to lose the game. https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2013-03-09 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/09-march-2013/ Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
5th March 2013- Championship, Watford 2 Sheffield Wednesday 1 WFC.Net goal commentary: 1. 2 BBC: Substitute Fernando Forestieri scored twice as Watford moved up to second in the Championship with victory over Sheffield Wednesday. Evening Standard, 6 Mar 2013 BHappy: In short, we’ve got to second by playing with freedom. By following our attacking instincts even when coaching manuals, common sense and British fair play say we ought to back down. By honouring a commitment to passing football even when it gets us into trouble (NOT THERE, FERNANDO). Especiallywhen it gets us into trouble (NOT THERE, FERNANDO). By scoring goals and making mistakes and having fun and not losing too much sleep when it doesn’t work out. This is the least constrained Watford side any of us have ever seen…and there’s no sense in fetching the harness and whip now. If we’re going to do this, it won’t be by heaping pressure on ourselves or by bowing to convention. Let’s face it: the best possible outcome of the season is one hell of a peak; the worst possible outcome ain’t much of a trough…. https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2013-03-05 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/05-march-2013/ Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
23rd February 2013- Championship, Watford 2 Derby County 1 Leave a Reply Watford moved up to second in the Championship as striker Matej Vydra scored his 20th goal of the season. Lloyd Doyley was simply born to play in that role on the right of a three, Nyron Nosworthy retains the happy habit of belting the ball into outer space when the need arises, Joel Ekstrand has evidently decided that he wants to be like them more than he wants to be like Neuton, which is the right choice. 8th February 2013- Championship, Watford 2 Crystal Palace 2 Leave a Reply Almen Abdi put Watford into an early lead with a well-hit effort from just outside the area before Nathaniel Chalobah headed in the Hornets’ second. Second-half goals from Peter Ramage and Kevin Phillips earned Crystal Palace a 2-2 draw at Watford in the Championship. Ian Holloway called for the Football League to “close the loophole” that has allowed Gianfranco Zola to loan eight players from Udinese, who are also owned by the Pozzo Family, after watching his side battle back to claim a point in a pulsating game. These are the games, my friends. Bursting with possibility…for disaster, for triumph, for all of the stuff in between. For finding out what you’re really made of. A clash between two cresting waves, unstoppable and inevitable; no time for caution or reserve, just a head-on collision at full pelt. For a club like ours, you only really get them when promotion is on the horizon: cup or league encounters with higher forces lack the same balance, relegation six-pointers lack the surging ambition. Not a game that was ever going to end goalless and sterile, this. https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2013-02-08 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/08-february-2013/ Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
2nd February 2013-Championship, Watford 2 Bolton Wanderers 1 Leave a Reply Matej Vydra scored his 19th Championship goal of the season as Watford came from behind to beat Bolton and move to within a point of the automatic promotion places. https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2013-02-02 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/02-february-2013/ Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
19th January 2013- Championship, Watford 4 Huddersfield Town 0 Leave a Reply Matej Vydra scored twice and won a penalty as Watford cemented their place in the top six and left Huddersfield without a league win in 12. Cristian Battocchio rounded off a comfortable win with five minutes left, flicking the ball into the far corner after a fantastic passing move. The first surprise was that the game was on at all. Yesterday’s rather testing weather conditions had made that seem highly unlikely (even if it’s difficult to judge quite how the rest of the world is getting on from the arctic isolation of a cul-de-sac, media updates or otherwise). So… big respect to those who answered the call and turned up with shovels early in the morning, and to all others involved in getting the game played. http://watford.fcdb.info/index.php?page=matches https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2013-01-19 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/19-january-2013/ https://oldwatford.com/2019/04/15/15th-april-2019-premier-league-watford-0-arsenal-1/ Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
