5th December 2015- Premier League, Watford 2 Norwich City 0 Leave a Reply WFC.Net goal commentary: 1 2 Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo both scored as Watford earned a deserved win over struggling Norwich. Deeney stepped up to finish past Declan Rudd after Alexander Tettey had fouled Ighalo in the area. And Ighalo netted his ninth goal of the season in second-half stoppage time after combining well with Deeney. “I love my strikers and I love the team we have,” their manager said after seeing his side move up to ninth. “We have passion, we have ambition and we have soul. I have an amazing feeling with these players and they are loving the Premier League. Having arrived in the Premier League as a team playing reasonably open football on a sensible budget with a fashionable young manager, Norwich have every right to feel a bit peeved that everyone’s fawning over Bournemouth. It’s like they’ve turned up at a fancy dress party as Olaf from Frozen, only to find that someone else had that idea first and had a mum with a fancy sewing machine; they’re now in the bathroom desperately attempting to improvise an abominable snowman costume instead. 15th February 2011-Championship, Watford 2 Preston North End 2 Leave a Reply Preston threw away a two-goal lead to leave manager Phil Brown still searching for his first win since taking over at the rock-bottom Championship club. Every series of Masterchef – mmm, topical – has an awful lot of contestants. That being the case, a helping hand is provided in the shape of a short, simple label for us to remember each one by, a three-words-or-less summary of their entire existence prior to having their life changed by cooking scallops with a minted pea puree for Greg and Jeff. (I know it’s not Jeff, but I can’t be bothered to look it up.) Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
1st February 2011-Championship, Watford 1 Crystal Palace 1 Leave a Reply http://watford.fcdb.info/index.php?page=matches Crystal Palace moved out of the Championship drop-zone after a battling draw at Watford. Watford took the lead through Andreas Weimann, on loan from Aston Villa, when he volleyed in Andros Townsend’s ball from the left. Palace equalised when James Vaughan collected the ball from Neil Danns before jinking his way past Adrian Mariappa and firing past Scott Loach. Evening Standard, 2 Feb 2011 Briefly, as Andros Townsend wriggled through on the left and Andreas Weimann swivelled to score, this promised to be rather fun. But Palace are nothing if not a damp squib: that was as much space and time as they were prepared to afford us, and our attacking efforts were increasingly frustrated by the two holding midfielders wedged in front of the defence like a chair under a door handle. That’s the way to play us, no question. It’s dull as a muddy puddle, but it works. https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2011-02-01 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/01-february-2011/ Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook

20th November 2010- Championship, Watford 1 Reading 1 Leave a Reply There was much about Watford’s performance that was concerning but nothing terribly surprising, and nothing for which a clear solution presents itself. We knew that we were going into the season with a young side that was going to be dependent on senior players; we’ve already seen, in Cowie’s absence, the impact that removing one of those cogs can have on the whole shape of the side. More of the same today; Jordon Mutch and Stephen McGinn both had reasonable games in the middle of the park but the whole side missed the steadying influence, the aggression, the option, the foot-on-the-ball of John Eustace in the centre. Ross Jenkins might have reminded us of what he best offers, an option not really suited to pairing with the skipper for whom he’d have been the most obvious replacement but for his ankle injury. http://watford.fcdb.info?s=39599&id=4936 https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2010-11-20 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/20-november-2010/ Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
