BSAD report:The word “ravishing” was suggested to describe our fourth goal, and that’ll do nicely.

BSAD imageBSAD report: Familiar ground, then.

In reality, the whole “WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE!” celebration extended no further than awkward greetings between two people who used to be at the same school but never really had anything in common. Initial pleasantries followed by edgy silences, not a memorable occasion.

Ah, the good old days. Travelling to far-flung, God-forsaken corners of the country on my own (not having at that time discovered the delights of the Watford Mailing List and started to travel to games with like-minded fanatics). Memories of watching Perryman/Lee/Roeder era Watford. And watching them play crap. In the cold. Yes, the trip to Bradford brought back all of those fond (?) memories. My first solitary journey to an away game for two years, aimless meandering through a cold and characterless Northern city centre before stumbling across the stadium and a thoroughly lamentable performance to boot.

The mind boggles at what Watford can achieve this season if they can win games like this. Not so much under the cosh as buried deep beneath it for large periods of the match, the Hornets still managed to eke out a one-nil victory that puts them joint top of the first division, albeit at a stage too early to judge what their eventual league fate will be.
