This was Southport’s final game as a Football League club. They were the last club to be demoted through the re-election process and were replaced by Wigan Athletic.

Whilst it is acknowledged in the programme that our promotion chances are over and plans are discussed for next season there is no mention that Mike Keen was relieved of his duties as Watford boss the previous day and he is still listed here as team manager.
