This was the semi-final of The Great Wall Cup. Watford faced a local side from Shanghai, Liaon Ning.

This win saw Watford finish top of their group with the China National XI also going through to the semi finals as runners up.

This was our first game in a friendly tournament called The Great Wall Cup. It was an eight team tournament with two groups of four, the top two in each group qualifying for the semi-finals. The other teams in our group were the Chinese National XI and Hubei.

The final game of Graham Taylor’s first spell as Manager. The final Watford appearance for John Barnes. It had been announced that Steve Sherwood was also leaving but he would still feature in the end of season tour of China, however this was his last game for us at Vicarage Road.






A brochure was also produced and sold during Steve’s testimonial year.
