This would be the final time that Graham Taylor lined up to face Watford. His playing career ended at Lincoln when he sustained a serious hip injury in 1972 and shortly afterwards he was appointed their manager. Eight years to the day after this game he’d take charge of his first competitive Watford match.

Whereabouts in Uxbridge this was played isn’t recorded but I would guess it was at the old Honeycroft ground in Cowley which was home to Uxbridge FC from 1948-78.
