17th March 2012- Championship, Watford 0 Coventry City 0 Leave a Reply Coventry goalkeeper Joe Murphy produced a string of fine saves to help his relegation-threatened side contain in-form Watford. John Eustace and Troy Deeney had the best of the chances but Murphy stood firm to earn Coventry a vital point. The fiftieth graduation from our Academy in 12 years is something to be hugely proud of, rightly celebrated over the tannoy. Assombalonga looked the part, keen, strong, rangy… but also raw, and not helped by the limited service he received from a hurried midfield. https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2012-03-17 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/17-march-2012/ Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
14th August 2010- Championship, Watford 2 Coventry City 2 Leave a Reply http://watford.fcdb.info?id=4919 Coventry salvaged a point at Watford courtesy of late goals from David Bell and Lukas Jutkiewicz. Will Buckley headed the Hornets in front and Coventry old boy John Eustace fired in a second after the Sky Blues only partially cleared a corner. BBC-Sport-Football-Watford-2-2-CoventryDownload Coventry City produced a dramatic comeback at Vicarage Road to snatch a 2-2 draw against Watford. Malky Mackay’s Watford appeared set to follow up an opening game win over Norwich City with another three points after Will Buckley and John Eustace scored. Boothroyd. Still can’t bring myself to like him. Didn’t boo him, but…. in accepting, revelling in the reception of the crowd at the end of the game, he should have stopped short of the fist-waving celebration. You were welcomed back Aidy, but we support Watford, not you. We weren’t going to share in your celebration. Perhaps old habits die hard. 29th September 2009- Championship, Watford 2 Coventry City 3 Leave a Reply http://watford.fcdb.info?id=4879 Coventry striker Leon Best scored twice late on to help his side stage a stirring comeback and beat Watford. This was, of course, what we were always at risk of with our thin and inexperienced squad. The continued absences of Helguson, Demerit and (effectively) Severin deprive us of experience where we have little to spare; the additional absences of Ellington, Jenkins, Cathcart and (ultimately) Hodson left us looking very sparse indeed. But it’s lack of nous that’s the issue really… there’s no way that points should have been dropped from half time onwards against a lamentable Coventry City side. 25th April 2009- Championship, Coventry City 2 Watford 3 Leave a Reply http://watford.fcdb.info?id=4866 Watford battled back from two down to secure a dramatic victory in a five-goal thriller at the Ricoh Arena. “One day Lloydy will score”. Well it should have been today… after one cut inside and dragged shot ride, the sort of thing that’s become almost passé over recent weeks, we suddenly had Lloydinho following up (following up!!!) Priskin’s first half shot. Not quite an empty net but the keeper was grounded, almost predictably Doyley’s excitement got the better of him and the shot went over. Probably a good thing, not sure I could have taken the excitement. https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2009-04-25 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/25-april-2009/ Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
13th December 2008- Championship, Watford 2 Coventry City 1 Leave a Reply John-Joe O’Toole’s winner after 72 minutes gave new Watford boss Brendon Rodgers a second successive victory The rain. I’m not complaining; we played the conditions much more effectively than Cov and it was a remarkably positive showing from both sides in the circumstances. But… it didn’t seem likely that the game would finish, as late as the end of the first half. Bonus marks to Chris Coleman for stopping short of Walker (R)’s plausible enough prediction in his post-match comments.
