25th November 2001- New Division One, Watford 3 Portsmouth 0 Leave a Reply A solid performance by Watford at Vicarage Road ended a poor run of form from Gianluca Vialli’s team. Nothing of any consequence happens on a Sunday evening. The invention of the wheel, the discovery of penicillin, the abolition of slavery, the introduction of the backpass law…none of them happened while the people involved were lounging around in front of “Monarch Of The Glen”. http://watford.fcdb.info?s=39661&id=4476 Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
23rd October 2001- New Division One, Watford 1 Nottingham Forest 2 Leave a Reply Nottingham Forest ended Watford’s recent good run, moving up to eighth in Division One after their win at Vicarage Road. If we learnt anything from yesterday, it was that our league position doesn’t lie. As our recent victories have demonstrated, we’re much, much better than the teams who’ll be struggling against relegation in May. As last night showed rather starkly, we’re still some way behind the division’s best sides. http://watford.fcdb.info?s=33336&id=4469 Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
30th September 2001- New Division One, Watford 1 Preston North End 1 Leave a Reply Gianluca Vialli’s Watford extended their winless run to five games as they were held to a draw by Preston at Vicarage Road. Watford’s stuttering start to the season continued as they were graciously handed a point by David Moyes’ Preston North End in a 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road last night. A founding member of the De Stijl movement, Piet Mondrian rejected the long-held idea that art should be a representation of the world. Instead, his paintings were constructions in their own right, comprised of strong black lines, precise right angles, and flat expanses of primary colour. Seeking the perfect composition from these most basic elements, Mondrian moved the blocks around the canvas until a balance was struck and the work was finished. 17th April 2001- New Division One, Watford 3 Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 Leave a Reply http://watford.fcdb.info?id=4449 Icelandic international Heidar Helguson kept Watford’s First Division play-off hopes alive with a last-gasp winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers. So, this thoroughly bizarre, nonsensical football match. Such an oddity, in fact, that no reaction – laughter, tears, fainting, boredom, rejoicing, blind fury – would’ve been entirely inappropriate. Appropriately, then, it received the most inappropriate reaction of all…a standing ovation. It was always going to be a strange night from the moment Robert Page almost slid the ball into his own net within seconds from kick-off with an ugly lunge trying to defend a cross. https://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=2001-04-17 https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-division-1/17-april-2001/ Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
3rd April 2001-New Division One, Watford 3 Nottingham Forest 0 Leave a Reply http://watford.fcdb.info?id=4446 BSAD report: When you win, you’re fantastic. The manager is a tactical genius – he knows exactly what to do in every situation, bringing the best from his assortment of astute bargain buys and trusting ex-youth teamers. The players themselves are athletic, finely honed demi-gods, each heroic in the pursuit of the victory. The fans are united, re-affirming their identity and confirming their support from cradle to grave. BSAD report: Let’s not forget that it was on the very same day (April 3rd) two years ago that we started our memorable unbeaten run which kept going for the remaining eight games of the season. statto.com Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
10th March 2001- New Division One, Watford 4 Norwich City 1 Leave a Reply http://watford.fcdb.info/index.php?page=matches BSAD report: Wherever you look, smiles as wide as the margin of victory. Which was very wide indeed. Watford fought back from an early setback to end a lean run with only their second victory in seven games, as Norwich crumbled to defeat.
