This win saw us complete our first league double over them up the road for 32 years as just two days earlier we’d won 4-2 at Kenilworth Road.   It wouldn’t be achieved again until GT’s Hornets won 2-0 home and away in 1986/7.

This was the first league meeting between the sides since 1937. However we had met numerous times since then in friendlies and the competitions that were played during World War II.
