25th October 2008- Championship, Watford 2 Wolverhampton Wanderers 3 Leave a Reply Michael Gray’s winner settled an enthralling clash at Watford and maintained Wolves’ promotion push. Not for the first time since August, it’s tempting to look at the stark contrasts between this season and last. Expectations dramatically lower, certainly. Sixth from bottom after this game, as opposed to sixth from top in May. By and large, playing our better stuff – and certainly picking up more points – at home; our away record was a proud thing last season, but merely loitered in the back of the mind of those who didn’t get to many away games. http://watford.fcdb.info?s=33699&id=4829 Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook
4th October 2008- Championship, Watford 2 Preston North End 1 Leave a Reply Watford came back from a goal down to earn a win over Preston thanks to Tommy Smith’s 50th goal for the club. A quite ridiculously open game of football that looked like delivering many more goals at each end. Due in no small part to our formation – going 4-4-2 without John Eustace in midfield was always going to be a high risk strategy. We had enough to make it pay off; all six of our “attacking” players had good afternoons. Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook

18th August 2007- Championship, Watford 1 Sheffield United 0 Leave a Reply http://watford.fcdb.info?id=4764 Lee Williamson grabbed his first goal for the club as Watford maintained their 100% start to the season with a narrow victory over Sheffield United. BBC-SPORT-_-Football-_-Championship-_-Watford-1-0-Sheff-UtdDownload BHappy report: Six points from these two league games without playing terribly well is a bit of a result. Another man having a bad day was Alvin Martin. He was reporting on the game for Sky and really could have picked a better spot to stand than directly above the Sheff Utd fans. ‘Stand up if you hate West Ham’ and ‘Cheap suit from Matalan’ were among the chants during his broadcasts. We responded with ‘there’s only one Carlos Tevez’ Full marks earlier on though for the Sheff Utd fans who pretty much to a man all appaluded Don Fraser getting his throughly deserved Barclays Supporter of the Year award.
