Fran’s Watford Blog: You could see how much it meant to the players.  I was surprised to see Koné run over to the away fans where he celebrated like a mad man.  The rest of the players took a while to complete their pleasantries with the officials and the opposition.  When they finally gathered as a group in front of us, King Ken was pushed forward to ensure that he got the plaudits.  There was no doubt that the crowd were sending him love and he was beaming and bowing down to us.

Sky Sports: Joel Piroe recorded a brace as Swansea opened the scoring in a game for the first time since October 23 with a 4-0 Championship victory over fifth-placed Watford to complete the double over the Hornets.

Fran’s Watford Blog: Prior to kick-off there was a minute’s applause for Pelé and for former Swansea player Neil Robinson.  The applause started as soon as the tannoy announcer started talking about Pelé and was lengthy and heartfelt.  What a sad loss he is for the world of football.

BBC Sport: Ben Cabango’s header in time added on saw Slaven Bilic suffer a defeat in his first home game as Watford boss. Watford led at the interval thanks to Ismaila Sarr’s 34th-minute opener as he finished from close range. The visitors equalised on 52 minutes when Olivier Ntcham’s deflected effort from 20 yards gave Swansea parity.

Sky Sports: The defender headed home Ryan Manning’s free-kick eight minutes into a total of 20 added on after the officials’ communication equipment failed, leading to the players having to leave the pitch.

Fran’s Watford Blog: After the excitement of Sunday, this had been a rather dispiriting showing.  There were some really good signs in the first half, but the Hornets were undone by poor defending.

8th May 2021- Championship, Watford 2 Swansea City 0

BBC Sport: Andre Gray instinctively turned in Ken Sema’s cross to put Watford ahead before Isaac Success added a second late on with a fabulous strike.

Sky Sports: Troy Deeney entered proceedings for goalscorer Gray with 18 minutes left in what could be both players’ last appearances for Watford, with their respective futures uncertain.

BHappy: It doesn’t feel much like the last day of the season.  It doesn’t feel much like anything really, enjoyed as it is from this season’s detached vantage point in the study, window slightly ajar, snacks and drinks in place, match on the big screen, other stuff on the smaller screen. WhatsApp is accessible but carefully hidden and muted to guard against unwanted telegraphs of what’s about to happen from folk with faster streams than mine, we’ve all gotten better at this with experience.
