20th February 1963- FA Cup Third Round, Watford 2 Rotherham United 0

Because of the Big Freeze this was the first game we’d played since the New Year. It was originally scheduled for the 5th January but was postponed and re-scheduled many times. ITN put together a news report about the weather which included a visit to Vicarage Road.

Thanks to Mike Scofield for the image and for tipping me off about the existence of the video.

The programme doesn’t actually feature a date on the front cover as usual. A supplement was issued, along with the programme, with a date of 11th February but the game was again postponed. Despite having to forego the large crowd that would’ve attended had the game been played in the evening it eventually went ahead on the afternoon of Wednesday 20th February with a 3pm kick off in front 5,165. This time was chosen so as to avoid the pitch freezing again after dusk and another postponement.

This was the supplement issued with the programme.
