The England game Glenn Roeder refers to was England v Poland which Graham Taylor’s side won 3-0 at Wembley.  It was a vital win which meant qualification to the World Cup in the United States was still possible.  The following game saw England lose 2-0 away to the Netherlands that all but ended their hopes.
